Match Stages September 15, 2007 Stages may not be shot in the order they are presented on this webpage. Stage 1 "Bad Men from Zortman" (Bodie September 2007) Rifle -10 rounds Pistol - 10 rounds Shotgun - 4+ rounds Stage Set: Rifle - 3 circles / rectangles Pistol - 6 circles Shotgun - 4 knockdown SG targets 2 hay bales and a box for shot shells. Story: You've been working your claim in the Little Rockies, trying to scratch out enough pay dirt to buy a bit of tonsil balm at the local watering hole when you catch a couple of men "high grading" on your claim. You flip open your stash of shot shells and send those bad men from Zortman running. Start: Shotgun staged on hay bale at position 1, shot shells are placed in the box (put extras too). Rifle staged on hay bale at position 2, the pistols are holstered. Procedure: To start the timer yell "Don't jump my Claim". Pick up your shotgun and from the box on the hay bale load your shotgun. Knock down the Shotgun targets SG1- SG4 (must go down). Place open and empty shotgun on the hay bale and draw 1st pistol and engage the 3 pistol targets P1-P3 with an Arizona sweep, 5 rounds on 3 targets. Holster and move to position 2. Pick up rifle and shoot the three rifle targets R1 - R3 with 4 rounds on the center target R2, followed by 3 rounds on the left and right targets R1 and R3 with 3 rounds for a total of ten. Place rifle on hay bale and draw 2nd pistol and Nevada sweep the 3 pistols targets P4 - P6, either direction.
"Carny Wheel" Rifle - 10 rounds Pistol - 10 rounds Shotgun - 4+ rounds Stage Set: Rifle - "Texas Star" and 2 rectangles Pistol - 3 circles Shotgun - 2 re-setting pepper poppers 1 gun stand for shooting position. Story: You've just had a busy evening at the Rocky Mountain Roadhouse and decide to go to the carny that's in town. You eye the shooting gallery where there's a Texas star to shoot at. You step up to the line but the vision's a bit blurry due to that 2 day aged whiskey you'd been drinking. You aim at the star but hit a bucket to the left. This is going to be harder than it looks�. Start: rifle and shotgun are staged in the gun rack. Six guns are holstered. To indicate shooter is ready say: "Outta' my way, I'm a shootist". At the beep, pick up your rifle and start on the left rifle target R1, then knock off a plate on the Texas star, the third round on the right rifle target R2. Sweep back to the star, then the left target, star, right target, etc., for 10 rounds. Re-load up to 2 rounds for any plates left on the star. Place rifle back in rack and draw your 1st pistol, engage the 3 pistol targets P1 - P3 in a 2 - 1 - 2 sweep from the left. Holster and with the 2nd pistol now sweep from the right in a 2 -1 - 2 pattern. Holster your pistol(s) and pick up your shotgun and shoot the 2 re-setting shotgun pepper poppers SG1 and SG2 alternating for 4 rounds.
"Window on the World" Rifle - 10 rounds Pistol - 10 rounds Shotgun - 2+ rounds Stage Set: Rifle - 4 circles / rectangles Pistol - 5 circles Shotgun - 2 knockdown SG targets Window prop. Story: You're passing by one of the saloons in town when that rowdy bunch from Hellgate Camp start raisin' a ruckus. They're shootin' the ceiling, the windows and even at you!. Well, you'll have to quiet them down sum. Start: Rifle staged at the left gun rack, shotgun at the right side gun rack, the pistols are holstered. Procedure: Start with your hands on the window frame. At the beep, move to the left gun rack and pick up your rifle and Nevada sweep the 4 rifle targets R1 - R4 from the left. Place rifle back in rack and move to the window. With your 1st pistol and through the window, engage the 5 pistols targets P1 - P5 with a left to right sweep. Holster and with the 2nd pistol sweep the targets right to left (target P5 gets a double tap). Holster 2nd pistol and move to the right gun rack, pick up the shotgun and knock down the 2 shotgun targets.
"Pins!" Rifle - 10 rounds + 2 for a reload Pistol - 10 rounds Shotgun - 4+ rounds Stage Set: Rifle - Knock downs, Swinger and rolling target with pins. Pistol - 3 circles Shotgun - 4 knockdown SG targets That bunch of rowdies from Sims is in town again drinking, carousing and shooting up the local bowling alley. It's time to put an end to this foolishness once and for all. With the shotgun shoot the four knockdown targets left to right. Using both handguns shoot the three pistol targets in a Hellgate Sweep. One of first, two on second, three on third, two on second and one on first. Use the last round to shoot the knock down. Five second bonus for a hit, no penalty for a miss. Using the rifle hit the knock down on the swinger then shoot the nine knock down targets without hitting the swinging weights. No penalty for hitting the weights. Off the clock reload two. Shoot the knock down on the rolling target. Shoot the rolling target to drop the weight so that the weight will knock down as many of the pins as possible. No penalty for any misses and a 1 second bonus for each pin knocked down. 15 second bonus for a strike.
Gophers! Note different scenario for gophers. This will be an elimination stage and not scored for time. A deck of cards will be sorted to contain a red and black card of each denomination corresponding to the number of participants. Each participant will draw a card. Participants will start by competing against the corresponding card of the opposite color. A coin will be flipped to determine who shoots first. There will be nine gophers. The first competitor to knock over five gophers without hitting a vegetable will advance to the nest round. A hit on a vegetable will immediately eliminate the participant. Only rifles will be used. Each participant will load from a table at the shooting position. After each competition the rifles will be cleared at the tables. Participants will alternate shots beginning with the person who won the coin toss. Winners will advance to the next round until one shooter is left. That person will be crowned as "Gopher Slayer Extraordinaire!!!"
