Match Stages August 15, 2009 Stages may not be shot in the order they are presented on this webpage. Stage 1 "Ringers!" Rifle - 9 rounds Pistol - 10 rounds Shotgun - 4+ rounds Stage Set: Rifle - Swinging KD, Rolling KD & 5 KD targets Pistol - Three pistol targets Shotgun - 4 KD shotgun targets Story: You ride into Deadwood looking for a little action and discover the Founder's Day Celebration is happening. There's a horseshoe pitching tournament and since you're a good horseshoe pitcher you decide to see if you can make a little on side bets. But before you can begin Cy Tolliver wants to challenge you so a bet is made. You step to the line and throw three ringers in a row at which time Cy accuses you of cheating. You won't stand for this so the gunfight between you and Tollover's men commences. Procedure: To start the clock throw the horseshoe at the pin. Five second bonus for a leaner, 10 second for a ringer. The buzzer will start when you release the horseshoe. With your rifle shoot the Swinging KD to release the swinger with the horseshoe attached. Shoot the swinger to drop the horseshoe. Ten second for a leaner and 15 second for a ringer. If you miss the swinger you may continue to shoot at it until you hit it. Shoot the Roller KD to release the roller with the horseshoe attached. Shoot the roller to drop the horseshoe. Five second bonus for getting the horseshoe into the box. Ten second for a leaner and 15 second for a ringer. Shoot the 5 KD targets. Only KD's left standing will be counted as misses. The rolling and swinging targets are considered KD targets. With your shotgun shoot the 4 shotgun KD's. They must go down. Move to Position 2. With your handguns shoot the three handguns targets in a Nevada Sweep beginning on the left.
"Let's Have a Spelling Contest" Rifle - 10 rounds Pistol - 10 rounds Shotgun - 2 rounds Stage Set: 4 Card Suit targets + Joker. Shotgun - 2 spring loaded shotgun poppers Story: Doc Holliday has been in an all night poker game with Ike Clanton and his Red Sash Cowboys when Ike suggests Doc is cheating. "Twelve hands in a row Holiday, nobody's that lucky!". Doc responds, "Maybe poker's just not your game Ike, I know, lets have a spelling contest". The fight is on. Start: Rifle and shotgun are staged in the shooting rack at position 1. To determine your shooting squence turn over one card from the three face down cards. If you turn a red card your sequence is to shoot the red targets in two double taps then the joker. If you turn a black card your sequence is to shoot the black targets in two double taps then the joker. If you draw the joker your sequence is to shoot all four targets in any order then the joker. Procedure: To start the timer say your line "Ain't that a daisy!". With your rifle shoot the targets as outlined above with the first five rounds, repeat with the second five rounds. With your shotgun shoot the two shotgun targets. Advance to position 2 and engage the targets in the same order with each handgun. NOTE: All participants who draw the joker will have their names placed in a drawing for a special prize
"Rotten Luck" (Stage 9 Cody's Wild West Shootout 2009") Rifle - 10 rounds Pistol - 10 rounds Shotgun - 4+ rounds Stage Set: Rifle - 4 circles or rectangles. one is used as a no shoot target Pistol - 4 circles or rectangles Shotgun - 4 knock down shotgun targets. 2 gun racks Story: The cook left two weeks ago and everyone's been taking turns doing the cooking. Just your luck it's your turn at the cook fire when a band of rustlers attack and you're by yourself�.and they've taken the trail boss captive. Hope the boys out with the herd hear the gunfire and come a runnin'. Careful though, don't shoot the boss. Start: Rifle and shotgun are staged in the shooting racks at position 1 and 2 respectively. Six guns are loaded with 5 rounds. Procedure: Start at a position between the two shooting positions. To start the timer say "Of all the rotten luck?" At the beep, move to position 1 and pick up your rifle and "Cody sweep" the rifle targets R1-R3 twice. R2, R1, R1, R3, R3. (white target is a no shoot!). With your first pistol "Cody sweep" the three pistol targets P1-P3. Move to position two and with your second pistol dump 5 rounds in the single pistol target P4. Last, with your shotgun engage the 4 shotgun targets SG1-SG4 in any order.
"Duck Eggs" Rifle - 10 rounds Pistol - 10 rounds Shotgun - 4+ rounds Stage Set: Duck Nest with Eggs Rifle - Texas Star and 5 KD targets Pistol - 3 targets Shotgun - 2 targets Story: You're spending the summer at the northern line camp ridin' fence and watchin' for cattle rustlers and other such vermin. It's lonely out there but at least you don't have to eat the ranch cooks viddles, which are pretty bad. One thing to occupy your time is cooking and you love eggs. You don't have any chickens but do have a duck nesting down by the creek, and duck eggs are even better than chicken eggs. You head out to collect eggs and discover those egg suckin' skunks are after your eggs. Procedure: From starting position go to the nest and collect an egg in your basket from the duck then take the basket to the table. Shoot the shotgun targets left, right. Grab the basket and go back to the duck and get another egg then go back to the table and with your rifle shoot the Texas Star and the 5 KD's in any order. Grab the basket and collect another egg from the duck then go to the second table. Shoot the three pistol targets P1, P1, P2, P3, P3. Repeat with the second handgun. NOTE: One duck egg is rotten and marked with an "R". If you collect that egg you will receive a 5 second penalty.
Gophers! (Cool weather version) If the weather is hot we will shoot the alternate stage 5 below. The stage will be not timed. Each shooter will be given a time of 60 seconds. Rifle - 10 rounds Pistol - 10 rounds Shotgun - 6 rounds You've thinned those pesky gophers out of the garden but more keep moving in. Under no circumstances do you want to shoot your prize winning punkin. It�s a sure winner at the county fair and first prize is $15.00. Fifteen second penalty for any HIT on the pumpkin. (only one penalty per stage) Avoid your wife�s tomatoes,. Five second penalty for any tomatoes knocked off the plant. Finally, there's the gourd you're going to use to build a birdhouse. Ten second penalty for hitting the gourd. Pistols loaded 5 rounds each, hammers on empty chamber, holstered. Rifle loaded with 10 rounds hammer on the empty chamber staged on gun rest.. Start holding the hoe in both hands. Say your line �Eat lead you varmints!� At the buzzer place the hoe in the gun rack and using the firearms in any order you wish you commence to shooting gophers. There will be a 5 second penalty for each gopher left standing when you are done shooting. Once you begin shooting a firearm you must continue shooting it until all it�s rounds are fired. A gopher knocked down in any way is a kill. Hits on gophers that do not knock them down are not kills. If, after all the gophers are dead you have any rounds left shoot at the long range gong. A five second bonus for each hit. All shooting must be done standing from within the rectangle marked on the ground. Irregardless of what class you are competing in you may shoot the handgun using two hands.

It's so hot all the gophers are down in their cool burrows but you want to keep in practice so head out to the corral to get in a little shooting. The cross brace on the old corral gate is a good target so you let loose. To start the timer say your line "Eat lead you varmints!" Start at position one and at the sound of the buzzer grab your shotgun and shoot the two shotgun targets left, right, left, right. With the rifle shoot the rifle/pistol targets in the tic tac toe sweep. RP1, RP3, RP5, RP3, RP1,RP2, RP3,RP4, RP3,RP2. Stage your rifle on the rifle stand and move to position 2.
